Behringer B-1: Is it Any Good?

The Behringer B-1 is a heavy condenser microphone that is very sturdy and reliable. It is perfect for any home recordings, studio use and even musicians!

3 Recording Settings

This microphone has three different recording settings, ensuring you can adjust the microphone to get the best quality recordings. Pushing the switch to the left will give you a low-cut filter, which helps to reduce low frequency sounds, like any unwanted background rumbles or popping sounds.

Pushing it to the right will give you -10db. This is useful for recording in loud environments as it can knock down the volume of everything, reducing the risk of peaking audio which can cause nasty sounding blips in the final audio.

Leaving the switch directly in the middle removes both of these settings. This is perfect for recording in a normal, controlled studio environment.

What's In The Box?

In the box with the microphone itself, you also get a few extra goodies! Firstly, you get a shock mount. When you attach the microphone to the shock mount, it will help to eliminate regular handling noises as well as other minor bumps and knocks, for example, someone bumping the table accidentally.

You also get a windshield that fits over your microphone. This makes sure the microphone doesn’t pick up any mouth noises and also softens the blow of any plosive sounds (‘p’ words) so that the audio doesn’t peak.

Built to Last

This microphone is made to last. Its nickel-plated body means it feels durable.

It will definitely survive regular studio use and some knocking around. It also comes with an aluminium carry case, to protect it during any transportation.

Final Thoughts

The Behringer B-1 is a fantastic option for someone who is starting out in radio and is looking for a low-cost, high quality microphone. It’s really versatile, has three settings to adapt your recording to any environment and comes with a few extra bits to get you up and running.
