As a broadcaster, you’re always looking for new ways to reach listeners. Smart home devices like the Amazon Echo and Google Home make it easy for people to tune into your shows whilst kicking back at home or in the background at the office. Open up a new avenue for listeners, play your radio station on Google Home.

Getting on Google Home

Playing radio stations is simple with Google Home. You can bring up any show by asking for its name, call sign, frequency, or a few more things.

To get on Google Home, your station needs to be listed on TuneIn or iHeartRadio. Once it's available through either of those places, listeners can tune into your broadcasts.

But now for the bad news.

Both options are not available to everyone. TuneIn stopped accepting new radio station submissions back in 2018. Despite its name, iHeartRadio doesn’t host live broadcasts, but just podcast episodes.

However, you can get your radio shows on iHeartRadio by repurposing content into podcasts. Uploaded or recorded shows can be packaged up and hosted with Podcast.co, all through your Radio.co account.

Existing Stations on TuneIn

If you managed to get your station listed on TuneIn before their change in policy, your station will be available on Google Home. Be sure to make your listeners aware, so they can enjoy listening through their smart home devices.

But what if your station is new? To this day, no one knows TuneIn’s requirements for getting listed. But you can still roll the dice and try to get added by submitting through this form.

If new ways to get listed on Google Home appear, we’ll update this article. But if you had luck with TuneIn or found another way to get on the popular smart home device, then let us know in the comments below.
